Description

MerryChristmas from SalarO is a fantastic skin to make the difference for your site this Christmas. MerryChristmas SkinPack has only two tables and the rest is pure CSS for speed. Has a fantastic Flash and it comes in 5 great colours. MerryChristmas is our five color CSS Skin Pack for DNN, paving the road of Enlightment.

There has been clearly a need for CSS in DNN community for some time, however, complexities of content & Module placements has always stopped us producing these as packaged skins. Therefore, please note that this is not for you if you are going to add big tables or third party modules with questionable layouts. In this skin we have only used two table to ensure backward compatiblity with Some DNN Modules. Otherwise it is free from tables.

This skinpack is well suited to the latest DNN in particular 4.7 and beyond. This is due ot the good CSS and XHTML effert made in this skinpack. You must appreciate CSS skin advantages to table skin as well as appreciating its limitations. But in most tests this skin has proved very consistent with third party modules.

Christmas SkinPack has an excellent XHTML and built with mainly CSS and minimum number of Tables. Please see the demo site that has all the graphical elements for you to see.

Known Limitations

1- 95% width skin is included, If we get any issues reported we will list them here.

2- Content needs to be placed with full understanding of the width of the pane available. If you have tables or content that is wider than what is allowed in the fixed skin version then it will show anomalies.

3- Please test on all browsers and satisfy yourself of the behaviour before you purchase

5- Please note that some third party modules may not behave correctly in this skin. In a CSS skin you would need to ensure the content you put in the page is well formed.

How to upload DNN skins and containers

Step 1...
Unpack the main zip file on your hard drive and you will see the various skins zips and container zip. Upload the skin zip and container zip to your portal via admin/skins/site one by one We prefer that to the combine skin/container method.

Step 2...
Check that the skins and containers are available when you add a page via page functions/settings/advanced settings and set the appropriate container and skin to the page.

Step 3...
You can also set a global skin and container to your site via admin/site settings and only change the skin type or container type when necessary on the page or on the module that requires a different one to the default skin/container..

To Uninstal

Login as admin if the skin is installed in site and host if it is in host main folder.
Go to admin/skins or host/skins tabs.
Choose the skin or container from the drop down list.
The skin pack will show up and please delete.
Depending on the version of DNN you are running you may also need to visit the folder with FTP access and delete the empty folder it may leave behind. This is currently not a skin issue and it may be a DNN shortfall in not being able to delete the folder.

Browser Compatability

CSS skinning : No tables are used for this skin design. This brings considerable speed for your DNN. as well as other general improvements. To see some of the advantages of CSS skinning please see http://www.csszengarden.com/
Table skinning attached too : Since some content may be incompatible with css skinning we had to also add tables skin design.
HTML style skins for DNN 3.x & 4.x: The skins are all HTML and not ascx. Therefore, you will have painless upgrade to the next version of DNN as the core skinning engine will account for the upcoming changes and creates the correct ascx files.
Language Selector: Language selector is provided with the package so if you have more than one language available in DNN 3.1.1 and after then it will show itself. if you dont need it then ensure you have only one language set in Host/Language settings. Index page also has no language selector option for those not wanting it.
Standard Logo placements: You can easily add logo to your site by changing the site logo in all versions of DNN by going to "Admin/Site Settings".
Fixed width: This skin is the 780px width type of skin with number of containers in each skin.
fixed as well as 100% width: This skin types for index and inner is provided with 780px width type of skin with number of containers in each skin.
Vertical Menu: Allows you to have large number of tabs for your site. 95% width re-release in May 06 re-release.
Matching Containers: For the skin pack you have the matching container. Please check the demo site to see the veriations.
Browser Compatible: Full Explorer and Fire Fox compatibility. After all they are the main two. Check your favourite browser for compatibility. We have not seen any unusual behaviour with others.
Admin Skin Included: Each of the colour options contain their own admin skin-type.
Easy customization: Skins are HTML style with css link placed. This would allow you to customize the skin with minimum coding knowledge. Just open the skin in DreamWeaver and you will see the skin tokens and move them or change graphics to suit. However, I must warn you that the menu is not easy to customize. I would take it as is and as seen.
Source Files Included: for all aspects of the skin and containers and the flash, you will see the full source code. There are no need to purchase any third party module or skin object to make this skin work.
Modify banner: Moffying the banner can easily change the skin to the subject matter of your business.
